Winner Camp NaNoWriMo 2012

I completed 50,050 words in June for the Camp NaNoWriMo challenge, but somehow the site didn't register that I validated my novel on June 29th, they day BEFORE the deadline. Maybe my profile has the wrong time zone which I have to check after I post this. Anyhow, Tim was gracious enough to fix it manually and I was able to get my Winner's Badge.

The novel I was writing for Camp NNWM is complicated, so after I validated my draft, I went back to working on the time travel short story I was working on prior to June. I finished my second draft of it today. The short story is called A La Claire Fontaine which is based off of a French Children's song. It is a romantic time travel story. I may or may not be changing the title. It will be posted for free on Wattpad as soon as it is ready.

I had to step away from that story because I'm too close to it and want to try to read it with a fresh eye. It would be best if I stepped away from it for at least a week, probably more, but I'll most likely look at it again tomorrow.

As soon as I finished the second draft today, I started an outline for a Young Adult book. I was fully intending it to be like a Goosebumps type of book for ages 6-12, but it's turning out to be more for teens ages 13-17. I was planning on it being as short as a Goosebumps book and scary with no romance, but that's not the case now. I can't help but add romance to it and the way it's going now, some people might die, so yeah, it's probably going to be for older kids. I have to hand it to R.L. Stine, he does a good job of making his stories scary, but not too scary for kids 6-12. My story is most likely too scary for that age group and I don't have the heart to change it. If I do, it won't be the story I want to write. I'd rather write another story later than change the one I want to write. We have to write from the heart, right? Well, maybe it won't be as scary as I think it will be. I'm still on the outline stage. The setting is a cabin in the woods. Kids get attacked by...ha, ha, you'll see. I don't want to give away too much. This is supposed to be 17,000-20,000 words long, but I'm afraid it'll be 20,000+!

Now I'm working on 2 novels which I didn't want to do! I've gotta stick to one and finish it. :o(   Every time I try to write something simple it ends up being complicated. The other novel I'm working on deals with human genetic engineering, secret Nazi projects, paranormal kids, etc. I like to mix conspiracy theories, non-fiction, and fiction. There's so much research to be done! The book is going to be such a bear to write and it's just a teen novel! I have high hopes for it, though and enjoy writing it. I have a feeling it's going to take me over a year to write just the first draft. As first drafts usually are, it's a wreck, but I like my characters which is good because I enjoy visiting them whenever I write.

I heard a theory that thoughts create realities and worlds. It makes me wonder if the characters of my books are being created in a world somewhere in another dimension. That would mean characters from other books exist somewhere. So, maybe one day I'll meet Harry Potter or Edward Cullen. HAHAHA!!!
